NGI monitors some of the world's most demanding offshore structures. NGI is well-known for work with innovative foundations such as suction bucket jackets, and has expertise for mooring and floating applications, too.

Borkum Riffgrund 1

The world's first offshore wind turbine foundation using suction bucket jacket technology, installed as a full-scale prototype in 2014. NGI was responsible for geotechnical design, instrumentation and the monitoring system.

  • More than 100 instruments and 7 km of cable
  • Monitored over several years to validate the concept for later projects

Greater Changhua

Instrumentation and geotechnical support for the installation of 66 suction bucket jackets at the Greater Changhua 2b and 4 offshore wind farms.

  • Planning, purchase and installation of instrumentation on Framo's suction pumps
  • Geotechnical assessment supporting installation across variable ground conditions

Seagreen

Installation of bucket foundations on 114 jacket substructures for the world's deepest offshore wind farm (58m), off the east coast of Scotland.

  • Real-time monitoring during installation
  • Data streamed from offshore to onshore to support installation decisions
