PHUSICOS - reduce risk in mountain landscapes

Research on solutions to reduce risk in mountain landscapes. PHUSICOS – “According to nature” in Greek – is funded by the EU Horizon 2020 program. It will demonstrate how nature-based solutions provide robust, sustainable and cost-effective measures for reducing the risk of extreme weather events in rural mountain landscapes. SAFEWAY - resilience of terrestrial transport infrastructure

SAFEWAY is a research project with main aim is to significantly increase the resilience of terrestrial transport infrastructure by design, validate and implement holistic methods, strategies, tools and technical interventions. SAFEWAY is funded from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme, and coordinated by the University of Vigo in Spain.

Salt stabilizing of quick clay

This is a research project with main goal is to find a sustainable, non-invasive, safe and time-efficient installation method for salt wells in quick clay areas. The project is funded by REFMIDT as well as the involved project participants, Stjørdal municipality, the Norwegian Public Roads Administration, NVE, Bane Nor, NGI and Multiconsult.

EVOKED - re-frame the risk and uncertainty associated with climate data

The objective of EVOKED is to re-frame the risk and uncertainty associated with climate data into knowledge products more understandable and useful for end-users concerned with risk mitigation and adaptation. EVOKED places the user's knowledge needs at the forefront as the driver for further specification of climate data to enhance the end-users to respond to climate change impacts.

GEOreCIRC

The main aim of the GEOreCIRC research project is to develop methods to reduce the amount of landfill material and encourage reuse. The project will focus on increasing the reuse of excess and waste materials from building and construction projects that are considered clean and potentially reused.

MERRIC - erosion risk

The scope of the MERRIC project is to perform research on processes relevant for erosion risk, i.e. processes influencing the probability and/or extent of erosion as well as the consequences of erosion. Another main goal is to develop knowledge and tools that can help our clients, and society at large, to reduce property damage and potential loss of life due to erosion.

New viking ship museum - geotechnics and vibration analyses

A new, modern Viking Age museum will be built onto the existing Viking Ship building at Bygdøy in Oslo. The irreplaceable collections make it necessary to severely limit vibrations throughout the construction period, from the start of construction until the Viking treasures have been moved into the new building. NGI is the geotechnical consultant for this work.

This R&D program has the aim to reduce the risk of damage caused by groundwork (excavation, foundation and construction work) during and after execution of a project, and the risk of damage to neighbouring structures.
