WP 2 - Online environmental monitoring
The Norwegian oil and gas industry anticipates a paradigm shift in the environmental monitoring of offshore oil and gas industry where the monitoring will change from expeditionary offline sampling to continuous environmental monitoring
Several online sensors relevant for the monitoring of environmental risks associated with oil and gas activities already exist. They include both physical sensors, such as doppler current profilers, turbidity sensors, conductivity sensors and chemical sensors such as methane and hydrocarbon sniffers. In order to add to this, the monitoring needs of the oil and gas industry will be identified and state of the art methods will be developed. Specifically, an online monitoring system for PAHs will be developed.
