A large construction project has an impact on surroundings on various areas. From CO2 emissions from the vehicles through noise pollution to possible settlements on nearby structures. This work package will look at these aspects. Furthermore, current Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) analyses often overlook groundwork. WP5's objective is to quantify CO2 emissions specifically attributed to groundwork, aiming to integrate this data into future LCA analyses.
The work in the work package is conducted in various stages before an LCA analysis can be performed. Initially, the most relevant sustainability criteria are defined, followed by the identification of the different processes to be included in the analysis. Subsequently, data will be collected for the various processes to enable an LCA analysis. The results of the analysis, along with discussions on the topic, will be published. Additionally, it is a goal to thoroughly describe the methodology used to calculate greenhouse gas emissions from excavation works so that it can be applied in other projects in the future.
